The Panagia Katholiki ( Greek Παναγία Καθολική ) is a church building of the Cypriot Orthodox Church in Kouklia on Cyprus ( Paphos district ).

description

The Panagia Katholiki was built in the 12th century on a cross-shaped floor plan with a dome over the crossing. It closes in the east with a semicircular apse and is barrel vaulted.

At the time of the rule of the Frankish House of Lusignan over the Kingdom of Cyprus, the church belonged to the neighboring royal estate Couvoucle . Under the Venetian rule between 1489 and 1571, the church was expanded to the west and the late Gothic arcaded corridor around the church and a representative portal were added.

In the interior there are some sparse remains of frescoes from the 14th century. Among them the depiction of Christ as Pantocrator in the crossing dome, a portrait of the Holy Bishop Therapon as well as a depiction of the rivers Euphrates and Tigris, which belonged to a depiction of the Last Judgment.
