The tennis competitions of the VIII Pan American Games 1979 were held from July 3rd to 13th, with a day of rest on July 6th, on the newly created facility in the Parque Regional de San Juan in San Juan . Medals were awarded to women and men in singles and doubles as well as in mixed competitions. The US college selection won four titles while Venezuela won the mixed . The Cuban tennis player Oswaldo Cruz pulled away from his team during the tournament.
