Fritz Buehning (born March 5, 1960 in Summit , New Jersey ) is a retired American tennis player .
Life
Buehning studied at UCLA and was named to the All American selection. He won his only single title on the ATP Tour in Sydney in 1980 . Between 1980 and 1984 he won a total of twelve double titles with changing partners. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1981 with position 21 in singles and 1983 with position 4 in doubles.
His best individual results at a Grand Slam tournament were third round participation at the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open . In the doubles competition he stood next to Van Winitsky in the final of the US Open in 1983 , the game against Peter Fleming and John McEnroe was clearly lost in three sets. He also reached the double quarter-finals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. In the mixed competition he stood at the side of Billie Jean King in 1984 in the round of 16 of the US Open.
