Richard LaClede "Dick" Stockton (born February 18, 1951 in New York ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Stockton graduating in 1972 at Trinity University in San Antonio , a sociology degree from.

He then focused on his tennis career and won a total of eight titles in singles and 16 in doubles between 1971 and 1986. In addition, he was twice successful in Grand Slam tournaments in mixed, 1975 at the side of Rosie Casals at the US Open and 1984 with Anne Smith at the French Open . From 1973 to 1979 he played ten games in the Davis Cup , five of which he won. In 1979 he won the team competition with the Davis Cup team of the United States .

Stockton now works as a tennis coach. He and his wife Liz run a tennis center in West Palm Beach , Florida .
