Panda Express is a US-American fast food chain that sells Asian, especially Chinese, food. It is part of the Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., whose headquarters are in Rosemead , California .

In 1973 Robert, Andrew and Peggy Cherng opened the first Panda-Inn branch in Pasadena , California . In 1983, Donahue Schriber Real Estate proposed that the Cherngs develop a fast-food version of the Panda-Inn called the Panda Express.
Overview
The chain consists of 1,644 branches in the states of the USA and Puerto Rico , employs around 13,000 people and is the fast food branch of the Panda-Inn restaurant. In 2005 the chain had sales of approximately 480 million euros ($ 600 million). Most of the branches are located in shopping centers or large supermarkets . In 2011, the first store outside the United States was opened in Mexico City . Panda Express specialties include Orange Flavored Chicken, Chow Mein and Kung Pao.
