Atlantis as a subject
The topos of the submerged island of Atlantis described by Plato is one of the most frequently used subjects , themes and motifs in literature and film . The fascination that Atlantis exerted on those working in culture has contributed significantly to turning a narrative, originally intended by Plato as a political lesson, into a myth .

The Latvian composer Jānis Ivanovs wrote his Symphony No. 4 in E flat minor in 1941 , which deals with Plato's version of the myth of Atlantis.
In 1963 the instrumental group " The Shadows " recorded the single "Atlantis".
There is also a song of the same name by Donovan from 1969 that tells the story of Atlantis. It was re-recorded in 2001 with the No Angels for the soundtrack of Atlantis - The Secret of the Lost City .
1974 published DDR - art rock band lift the title Atlantis, describing the destruction of the city.
The soul band Isley Brothers released the song Voyage to Atlantis on their album Go for Your Guns in 1977 .
Also in 1977, the German progressive rock band Eloy released the concept album Ocean , the four tracks of which are themed around the creation and fall of the island of Atlantis and its inhabitants.
Atlantis Is Calling (SOS for Love) was the title of one of five singles by the duo Modern Talking ( Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders ), which reached number one in the German single charts in 1985/86 . The song held its own for four weeks (June 16 to July 7, 1986) at the top of the German charts. In Austria, the title reached second, in Switzerland third and in Great Britain at least 55th place in the singles charts. The song was also commercially successful in many other countries.

The concept album V - The New Mythology Suite by the progressive metal band Symphony X , released in 2000, is about the story of Atlantis.
The German power metal band Iron Savior tells an imaginative science fiction story in their concept albums, in which the downfall of Atlantis is one of the key points.
