Sun Koh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sun Koh - Der Erbe von Atlantis is a fantasy booklet novel series that was written in 150 episodes by Paul Alfred Müller under the pseudonym Lok Myler in 1933-36 for Bergmann-Verlag in Leipzig .

The series reached three editions by 1945, with major text changes being made from the second edition, as well as a book edition. After the war, three more editions were published in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A revised book edition of the series was published between 1958 and 1961 in 37 loan book volumes by Hermann Borgsmüller Verlag. This edition served as the basis for the paperback edition of the series published from 1978 to 1980, which was published under the pseudonym Freder van Holk by Pabel-Verlag . All post-war editions were shortened to include racist, anti-Semitic or generally German-speaking expressions.

In 2005, the Zurich-based SSI-Verlag started a work edition that contains the original version of the novels and in which the changes to the subsequent editions are documented. So far (as of January 2015) only the first volume of the work edition has been published, which contains the first five novel booklets. In 2013 the publishing house Dieter von Reeken started another new edition. The whole series was reissued in nine volumes, each with 15 to 17 individual issues, images and extensive appendices; the last volume was published in early 2015. The basis is the first edition of the booklet, whereby the racist passages have not been edited, but have also been taken over critically, the original text in the invoice has been converted into Antiqua and the spelling has been adapted to the current rules.

content

In the first volume, a man, dressed only in pajamas, lands with a parachute in London - Sun Koh, the bronze-skinned Prince of Atlantis . He is the last survivor of his lost continent and has a great responsibility: According to ancient traditions, Atlantis will emerge from the ocean again. The only one he can remember was going to the Excelsior Hotel in London. There he meets two people who will from now on faithfully accompany him on his many adventures, the often cheeky lift boy Hal Mervin and the undefeated heavyweight boxer Jack Holligan, a man from the Joruba tribe who would from now on prefer to be called Nimba . And he meets his arch opponent, the Mexican Juan Garcia, from whose hands Sun Koh first has to free his silent love Joan Martini. Lady Houston, whom he scorned, is repeatedly responsible for unpleasant incidents and more than once he has to save Joan Martini again.

Sun Koh learns that Garcia is responsible for the death of his parents and that he has a twin brother in the so-called sun city of the Maya on the Yucatan peninsula , the eccentric but good Manuel Garcia. He found a huge store of valuable Mayan remains there, which he gradually grants Sun Koh access to. Sun Koh is now financially independent and can gather scientists all over the world who can support him with their inventions when Atlantis emerges from the floods again. During his many adventures, Sun Koh repeatedly finds clues and mysterious buildings that suggest that part of the Atlanteans survived the sinking and settled on other continents. And when at the very end Atlantis rises again from the floods, Juan Garcia is ready again to wrest his legacy from Sun Koh. But with the help of his friends, Sun is able to defeat Koh Garcia and together with Joan Martini he is the first to set foot on the reborn continent.
