Friedrich Hecht (chemist)

Friedrich Hecht (born August 3, 1903 in Vienna ; † March 8, 1980 , pseudonym : Manfred Langrenus ) was an Austrian chemist and writer.

Life

Friedrich Hecht studied chemistry at the University of Vienna , received his doctorate there in 1928 and was an assistant at the Second Chemical Institute. Even before Austria was annexed in 1933, he was a member of the (then illegal) NSDAP and the SA , and from 1934 also the SS . In 1938 he moved to the Analytical Institute of the University of Vienna and completed his habilitation there in 1941. From 1943 to 1950 he was Professor of Microchemistry and Geochemistry at the Technical University of Graz , from 1959 to 1973 Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry and Head of the Analytical Institute in Vienna.

In the 1950s he wrote two science fiction novels under the pseudonym Manfred Langrenus, which at the time received special attention as an alternative to the loan book and notebook publications of the time.
