Panjwai (also Panjwayi , Panjwaii , Pandschwai or Panjwaye ) is a district in the province of Kandahar with the center Bazar-e Panjwai ( ⊙ ) on the Arghandāb River .
The area around Bazar-e Panjwai was the site of Operation Medusa in September 2006 .
In 2012 a US soldier shot and killed 16 Afghan civilians ( known as Kandahar massacre in English-speaking countries ) in a rampage there .
