Zangabad (also: Zangābād , Zangiabad , Zangīābād ) is an Afghan village in the Panjwai district in Kandahar Province .

location

Zangabad is 915 meters above sea level. An earthquake with a strength of four to five according to Richter occurs on average every 50 years . Times of extreme drought are very common.

Infrastructure

In the immediate vicinity of Zangabad there is a Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the armed forces of the United States (as of March 2012).

history

According to newspaper reports, on March 11, 2012 a sergeant from the FOB carried out a massacre in Zangabad . He is said to have killed 16 civilians, including nine children and three women.
