The pansarbandvagn 301 ( Pbv 301 ) is a Swedish rifle and armored personnel from the late 1950s.
history
The Pansarbandvagn 301 was based on the chassis of the Stridsvagn m / 41 , which was classified as obsolete at the end of the 1950s and was therefore retired. The chassis of the m / 41 could be used for the Pbv 301. In June 1959, the Swedish army ordered ten pre-production vehicles - three were built by AB Landsverk and seven by Hägglund and Söner . Ultimately, in 1961, Hägglund & Söner was awarded the contract to produce the Pbv 301. All vehicles had been delivered by April 1963. The Pbv 301 remained in service until the early 1970s. The tank was replaced by the Pansarbandvagn 302 .
The armored personnel carrier was armed with the 20 mm automatic cannon m / 45B from Bofors , which was also used in the Swedish fighter aircraft Saab 21R . The tank had a crew of two and could transport eight soldiers with equipment inside.
Versions
A total of 185 Pansarbandvagn 301 were produced, 150 of which were tanks of the standard Pbv 301 variant . Two other variants existed:
- Stridsledningspansarbandvagn 3011 ( Slpbv 3011 , 20 units): command vehicle
- Eldledningspansarbandvagn 3012 ( Epbv 3012 , 15 units): artillery observation vehicle
