Paolo Cian

Paolo Cian (born November 11, 1966 in Naples ) is an Italian sailor .

Life

Paolo Cian went sailing with his father. At the age of seven he started sailing in the Lega Navale Italiana yacht club . He also remained a member of the LNI during his architecture studies in Naples and became a professional sailor after completing his studies.

His good position in the match race world rankings prompted the Mascalzone Latino team participating in the America's Cup to invite him to the team in 2002.

In 2007 he was the helmsman of Team Shosholoza, the first South African boat to compete in the America's Cup.
