Papa Diabaté or Grand Papa Diabaté (actually Kerfala Diabaté ) is a griot , kora player and guitarist from Guinea .

Diabaté has lived and worked in Paris for several years . In addition to his work as a session and studio musician with Mory Kanté and others, he is active in the Guinean diaspora in France at baptisms and weddings.

In 1999 his solo album Guitar, Extra Dry was released in Europe . He is also represented with solo pieces on the samplers African Virtuoses: The Classic Guinean Guitar (2007) and Desert Blues 2 (2002). Papa Diabaté contributed to publications by Manfila Kanté and Sona Diabaté , which appeared in Germany on Günter Gretz 's label popular african music , which has specialized in the publication of African music from the last few decades. He was also involved in world music projects with Rüdiger Oppermann and the Breton harpist Morgan .
