The Paper Lions are a Canadian rock band from Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island .

They represent the musical styles of rock (music) , pop and crunk .

The band's hallmark when performing live is neat clothing in black suits with white shirts and ties, reminiscent of the early Beatles .

Band history

The Paper Lions were originally founded in 2004 under the name Chucky Danger Band by John MacPhee and his brother Rob MacPhee. Other founding members are Colin Buchanan and David Cyrus McDonalds.

The musical style of the band was to spend several years of band founder John MacPhee in Cambodia affected, where he campaigned for the poorest.

For his diversion and in order to be able to deal with the emotional ups and downs that his social commitment there brought with it, he composed songs for the acoustic guitar.

Back at PEI in Canada , he played his works to his brother Rob and his neighbor Colin, who were very enthusiastic about them and immediately began to translate the acoustic guitar pieces into sophisticated musical arrangements.

The first public appearance took place in 2004 at the PEI Music Awards . The band's first studio single, called Living Forward , quickly became the most wanted single on local radio station Magic 93.1 FM on PEI. With the release of Sweet Symphony , the Chucky Danger Band's music quickly spread to radio stations across the world Country. In September of the same year, the band recorded a studio album on the Canadian record label CBC Atlantic Airwaves . During a live performance, producer Paul Milner ( Robert Palmer , Kim Mitchell , Glass Tiger etc.) became aware of the group, now simply called Chucky Danger , and joined the band together with Glen Meisner and Carl Falkenham to do the CBC session to produce.

In 2004 and 2005 the publication of followed six-pack - EP and winning the PEI Music Awards for best artist of the year 2005. In 2006, the group released their debut album Color and won in the same year the East Coast Music Award for Best Pop Recording of Year.

Since February 2008 the band has been called Paper Lions . In 2010 she released her album Trophies . In June 2012 the album At Long Creek followed .
