Paraview is an open-source - program , which for scientific visualization is used. ParaView is based on the VTK visualization library also developed by Kitware .

A comparable open source project is Visit, which is also based on VTK.

history

The ParaView project was created as a joint development by Kitware and the Los Alamos National Laboratory . Its development was through the ASCI program of the US Department of Energy funded. The first public version appeared in October 2002.

In September 2005, Kitware started developing ParaView 3.0 with Sandia National Laboratories and other partners, which was released in 2007. ParaView 4.0 was released in June 2013 and version 5.0 in January 2016.
