Paradolms de la Pallera
The Paradolmen de la Pallera is located near the Santa Helena de Rodes Monastery next to the Mas de la Pallera homestead in Catalonia , Spain . The type of dolmen , known as paradolms, which is widespread in Catalonia, is a megalithic complex that consists largely of boulders or rock formations that form a natural cavity (e.g. an abri ) that is transformed into a chamber through artificial addition or used as such has been.
Architecturally, de la Pallera designed a semi-artificial, round chamber with a narrow corridor. The whole thing was covered with a tumulus that was about 8.0 to 9.0 meters in diameter. Archaeological excavations have not yet taken place.
Chronologically, the dolmen, located about 500 m above sea level, dates back to the first half of the 3rd millennium BC. Outcrops of gneiss , quartz and slate are nearby. Nearby there is a group of rock carvings with small bowls and grooves that form wheel crosses .
