Parallel call

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parallel Call ( Call Forwarding Parallel , CFP) is a feature for telephone connections and telephone systems that belongs to the group Call Forwarding .

A parallel call to another connection (with a different subscriber number) can thus be set up on a telephone connection. If a call comes in, it rings on both connections at the same time. The call is held where it is picked up first.

The German Telekom offered the power of 2 September 2002 to June 1 in 2009. Until then, parallel calling was available for analog and ISDN connections.

Since March 13, 2014 sipgate has been offering a parallel call function with the simquadrat mobile phone service implemented in the Telefónica network . If a call is taken on a foreign cellular or landline connection, the called party also incurs call charges.

Parallel calls are also available with many telephone systems from different manufacturers and are then possible via ISDN, analog and IP telephony connections (also mixed). When using a telephone system, however, in contrast to the use of CFP in the network, the number of the caller at the parallel call destination is usually not displayed, but the number of the own connection. In addition, if the call is being conducted on the forwarded connection, two channels are occupied, while no additional channel is blocked for parallel calls in the network. Since an ISDN basic connection has only two channels, the connection is occupied for other connections during a parallel call. In this respect, this option is not a full replacement for the parallel call feature.
