The park and garden of the Château de la Motte is located near Acqueville in the Calvados department in Normandy in France .

The total investment is partially protected and eleven hectares. The flower and kitchen garden , which is completely surrounded by high stone walls, takes up around 4400 m² . The protection of the walls creates an excellent microclimate and a feeling of warmth, calm and intimacy. A step in the terrain (three stone stairs) breaks through the flat property and provides an overview of the garden. The proximity of the castle with its classical architecture has forced a certain severity of the structures of avenues and box tree hedges. A greenhouse from the early days of the garden is still in use.

The garden , like all palace gardens of that time, originally had the purpose of supplying vegetables and fruit. But there were also some flower beds. In 1980 the owner decided to give the garden a new direction. The old gardens were gradually redesigned between 2001 and 2006. The new structure picks up on the aesthetics and functionality of the late Middle Ages with its geometric plans. After creating the orchards and berry bushes, the seats and small tree islands as well as the various beds, a "Hortus Conclusus" or a garden was created, which is primarily occupied with grasses, aromatic and aromatic plants, medicinal herbs, perennials, culinary herbs and now forgotten small fruits. There are many forgotten vegetables, including some lesser-known exotic species.
