Parker Ranch pastureland

The Parker Ranch , which is located in Waimea (also: Kamuela , named after Samuel Parker in the Hawaiian spelling of Samuel) in the north of the island of Hawaii , is one of the largest ranches in the USA with 900 km² of land and around 60,000 cattle.

The ranch, founded in 1847, is one of the oldest in the USA and owes its vast pastures to the fertile volcanic soil. After the death of the last owner Richard Smart, the Parker Ranch was converted into the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust along with the Smarts Art Collection in 1992 .
