e 1999: as law and unity
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on May 25, 2003. There were 56 direct mandates and 75 seats that were distributed at the national level by proportional representation. The Republican Party of Armenia became the largest party in parliament with 33 out of 131 seats. However, the elections were heavily criticized by international election observers who complained about widespread fraud and found that the elections did not meet democratic standards. The next parliamentary election in Armenia took place in 2007 .
