Land of Law ( Armenian Օրինաց երկիր Orinaz Jerkir , Russian Страна Закона ), abbreviated as ՕԵԿ or OEK, from 2015 to February 13, 2018 known as the Armenian Rebirth ( Armenian Հայկական վերածնունդ , Hajkakan Weraznund ), is a party of the political center in Armenia . It has been directed by Arthur Baghdassarjan since its inception . At the international level, Land des Rechts is a member of the Christian Democratic Centrist Democratic International (CDI) and has had observer status with the European People's Party (EPP) since 2012 .
history
The party, founded in 1998, received 12.9% of the vote and 19 of the 131 seats in parliament in the 2003 parliamentary elections, making it the second largest parliamentary group after the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), which is in power. Subsequently, their party leader Baghdassarjan was President of the National Assembly of Armenia .
In the parliamentary elections in 2007 it received only 7.1% of the vote and 9 seats, making it the fourth largest party in parliament. In the presidential election in February 2008 , Baghdasaryan was the candidate from Land of Justice ; he came third with 17.7% of the vote.
In the 2012 parliamentary elections , the party received 5.5% of the vote and its number of seats was reduced to five. Unlike other opposition parties, Land der Rechts recognized the result and joined the government coalition led by the HHK. In the 2013 presidential election, the party did not put up its own candidate. In 2014 she left the government.
In 2015 the party merged with the small party of the United Armenians ( Armenian Միավորված Հայեր կուսակցություն , Miaworwaz Hajer Kusaksutjun ) and renamed itself “Armenian Rebirth”. In the general election in April 2017, the party only received 3.7% of the vote and lost all of its parliamentary seats. At a meeting on February 13, 2018, it was decided to adopt the old party name under which the party ran in the elections in the same year.
In the parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2018 , the party also failed to jump over the 5% hurdle. Therefore she remains part of the extra-parliamentary opposition.
