The parliamentary election in Cambodia 2018 (election for the sixth Cambodian National Assembly ) was held on July 29, 2018. The number of people entitled to vote fell for the first time since 1993, by 13.39%. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for Prime Minister Hun Sen's ruling Cambodian People's Party , which won 76.85% of the vote and all 125 seats. Possible this result was the dissolution of the main opposition party, the National Salvation Party of Cambodia (Cambodian National Rescue Party, CNRP) in November 2017. The CNRP had then called for a boycott of the elections by non-participation or duty of invalid ballots. 16.98% of those eligible to vote did not take part, and 8.55% inserted invalid ballot papers. Of the remaining 19 parties that took part in the election, the monarchist FUNCINPEC came in at 5.89%, the League for Democracy Party (LDP) at 4.86% and the Khmer Will Party (KWP) at 3, 35% of the valid votes. The other 16 parties received a total of 9.06%. The official figures differed only slightly from the provisional ones, to which no objections were raised within the statutory period of 72 hours. The allegedly high voter turnout of 83.02%, which for the ruling CPP is an important criterion for the legitimacy of the result, is controversial.
