The apex of the shoot is covered with thorns and sparse white wool. The 22 ribs have chin-like protrusions between the initially white and later gray areoles . The four cross-standing, straight, stiff and sharp central spines are reddish in color and have a darker base. They have a length of 1.7 to 2.4 centimeters. The approximately 34 straight, needle-like, whitish radial spines are yellow at their base. They are up to 1.1 inches long.
The bright lemon yellow flowers reach lengths of up to 4.5 centimeters and diameters of 5 centimeters. Your pericarpel is covered with green and red scales, brown wool and dark bristles. The scar is red. The thick-walled fruits dry out when ripe and tear open. They contain numerous shiny black seeds that are humped.
