Parque Estadual Telma Ortegal
The Parque Estadual Telma Ortegal ( Brazilian Portuguese for state complex Telma Ortegal ) is located west of the city of Goiânia in the municipality ( município ) Abadia de Goiás in the Brazilian state of Goiás . It was created by Law 12,789 of December 26, 1995 and covers an area of 166 hectares . The Parque is used to store the radioactive waste and contaminated objects from the Goiânia accident in accordance with the guidelines of the Brazilian environmental authority IBAMA , the Brazilian national nuclear energy commission CNEN and the CEMAm . It is subject to the special regulation of Law Política Florestal No. 12.596 of March 14, 1995 and CEMAm Resolution No. 01/94. There is an information center at the front of the park.

The park is divided into four areas (zonas):
- Zona Primitiva - Access to this 4.99 hectare area is only permitted for research purposes due to the waste stored there.
- Zona de Uso Intensivo - This area includes leisure rooms, an information center and an observation tower.
- Zona de Uso especial - laboratories, storage, administration, maintenance and service buildings are located in this area.
- Zona de Recuperação - This area may not be built on or used in any other way until the waste stored there is no longer hazardous.
