Abadia de Goiás (German: Abbey of Goiás , officially: Município de Abadia de Goiás ) is a municipality ( município ) in the Brazilian state of Goiás . As of July 1, 2019, the population was estimated at 8773 inhabitants, who live in a community area of around 147.3 km² and are called Abadiens. It belongs to the metropolitan region of Goiânia , from the center of Goiânia it is 27 km away. In 2016, the municipality's gross domestic product was around R $ 166.4 million (R $ 20,665 per capita).

The Goiânia accident occurred about 1 km from this place in 1987 , during which radioactive cesium was released.
