Senador Canedo is a Brazilian political community and city in the state of Goiás in the mesoregion central Goiás and in the micro-region Goiânia . It is located southwest of the Brazilian capital Brasília and 16 km east of the capital Goiânia . The municipality belongs to the Goiânia metropolitan area .
The city is the center of the state's petrochemical industry.
