Gouvelândia , officially Portuguese Município de Gouvelândia , is a Brazilian political municipality in the state of Goiás . It is located southwest of the Brazilian capital Brasília and the capital of the state of Goiânia . Gouvelândia is located in the extreme southwest of Goiás on a plateau with 395  m with a flat topography . As of July 1, 2017, the population was estimated at 5,656.

The municipality of Setenópolis also belongs to the municipality. Geostatistically it belonged 1989-2017 to mesoregion South Goiás and the micro-region Quirinópolis .

The Munizip was created by law of June 1, 1989 by outsourcing from Quirinópolis .

• in the northeast to the municipality of Bom Jesus de Goiás
• to the east with Inaciolândia
• in the southeast over the São Simão reservoir to Ipiaçu ( MG )
• in the south over the São Simão reservoir to Santa Vitória (MG)
• from southwest to north on Quirinópolis

Gouvelândia is drained by the border rivers:

• Rio dos Bois in the east
• Rio São Francisco in the southwest

resp. through the branches of the São Simão reservoir they formed . The municipality is characterized by many wetlands with small lakes.
