Monte Alegre de Goiás is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Goiás in the mesoregion of North Goiás and in the Chapada dos Veadeiros microregion . It is located north of the Brazilian capital Brasília and northeast of the capital Goiânia .
The villages of Araxá, Brejo, Porto Real belong to Monte Alegre de Goiás.

- to the east at Divinópolis de Goiás
- in the south at Alto Paraíso de Goiás
- in the southeast on São Domingos
- in the southwest to Nova Roma and Teresina de Goiás

Hydrographic location
Hydrographically, Monte Alegre de Goiás drains into the Rio Tocantins - Araguaia basin to the north. Most of the southeast border is marked by the Rio São Manso, the northwest border by the Rio Bezerra and the northern border by its right tributary, the Rio Montes Claros. Both rivers flow as a right tributary into the Rio Paranã , which marks the western border of the municipality.
Climate and vegetation
The climate is typically tropical and semi-humid with high temperatures in the summer of around 30 ° C with a humidity of 60–70% and heavy rainfall. In winter there are drought and drought lasting four to five months. The vegetation is characterized by the Cerrado - ecosystem .
