history

Around 1933, on Sunday mornings, the residents of the region gathered at the Fazenda Santo Domingo for Catholic worship. Thanks to a territorial donation from Manoel Firmino dos Santos, a settlement was created, starting with the construction of the Nossa Senhora da Guia chapel , dedicated to the local patroness. With the arrival of the Araujo, Borges and Machado families, attracted for the fertility of the soil, the village experienced a remarkable development. In honor of the donor, Manoel Firmino dos Santos, the settlement Firminópolis was baptized.

On April 26, 1948 Firminópolis was declared a district of the Paraúna municipality . By state law No. 174, Firminópolis was raised to an independent municipality on October 7, 1948 by separating from Paraúna.
