Itajá is a Brazilian political community in the state of Goiás in the mesoregion South Goiás and the micro-region Quirinópolis . It is located southwest of the Brazilian capital Brasília and the capital of the state, Goiânia .
Other localities in the municipality are Termas de Itajá, Olaria da Fumaça and Aporé (the latter at the confluence of the Rio Aporé in the Rio Paranaíba ).

Itajá borders on the following municipalities:
- in the northeast at Itarumã
- in the southeast at Limeira do Oeste ( MG )
- in the southwest on Lagoa Santa , Paranaíba and Cassilândia (both MS )
- in the northwest at Aporé
The municipality is located between the Rio Corrente and Rio Aporé (also called Rio do Peixe , the Aporé means river of fish ). Both flow from northwest to southeast and flow as right tributaries into the Rio Paranaíba or its Ilha-Solteira reservoir , which forms the southeastern municipal boundary. The Rio Aporé flows into the Rio Paranaíba at the border triangle of Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul.
