Barro Alto , officially Portuguese Município de Barro Alto , is a small town in the interior of the Brazilian state of Goiás .

According to the 2010 census, the municipality has 8,716 inhabitants, who are called Barro-Altenser (Portuguese barro-altense ). According to the IBGE's estimate on July 1, 2018, the population was 10,922 inhabitants. increasingly appreciated. The distance to the capital Goiânia is 220 km.

history

In the 1940s, the first residents settled in what is now the municipality, and from 1949 onwards around the Fazenda Barro Alto, after which the town was named. In 1951 a connection road to Goiânia was built and in 1956 the church Capela de Nossa Senhora d'Abadia was built. With the law of October 22, 1958, the Distrito de Barro Alto was founded as a subdivision of the municipality of Pirenópolis , but was already given independence as a municipal town by law No. 2139 of November 14, 1958 and was spun off from Pirenópolis.
