history

The whole of today's municipal territory belonged to the Munizip Anápolis and was hardly developed at the end of the 19th century. In 1903 it was administered by Anápolis as the Santo Antônio do Capoeirão District. In 1918 the miner from Patrocínio Antônio Dâmaso da Silva and his family settled on the small river Ribeirão Capoeirão, and a settlement center was created. In 1921 the chapel Santo Antônio do Capoeirão was built and an area of 20 Alqueires mineiros was donated, about 96.8 hectares . In 1938 the district name was shortened to Distrito de Capoeirão and on December 31, 1942 it was renamed Distrito de Damolândia (formed from Dâmaso). It was not until the end of the 1950s that an infrastructure had developed in such a way that the town was granted city rights as a municipality on November 14, 1958, with the removal from Anápolis.

Population development

The church is developing slowly. In 2010 around 20% of the population were children and young people up to the age of 15.
