Teresina de Goiás is a small Brazilian political municipality in the state of Goiás in the mesoregion of North Goiás and in the Chapada dos Veadeiros microregion . It is located north of the Brazilian capital Brasília and northeast of the capital Goiânia .

Geographical location

Teresina de Goiás borders

• to the north, Monte Alegre de Goiás
• to the east to Nova Roma
• in the south at Alto Paraíso de Goiás
• to the west at Cavalcante

Hydrographic location

Teresina de Goiás is drained northwards by the Rib. dos Bois, where it flows into the Rio Paranã on the northern border .

Climate and vegetation

The climate is typically tropical, semi-humid with high summer temperatures around 20–24 ° C with a humidity of 75–80% and heavy rainfall. In winter there is drought and drought lasting four to five months. The vegetation is characterized by Cerrado - ecosystem .

On the southern border to the municipality of Alto Paraíso de Goiás is the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park , which is very popular with hikers and eco-tourists .

Access to the national park is only permitted with a guide. The entrance is in the village of São Jorge on the south side of the park, roughly halfway between the towns of Colinas do Sul and Alto Paraíso de Goiás .
