The São Simão Reservoir is a large dam in Brazil that consists of a reservoir and a hydroelectric power station . The Brazilian name is Usina Hidrelétrica de São Simão .

The reservoir is located on the Rio Paranaíba below the Itumbiara reservoir . The border between the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais runs lengthways through the reservoir, into which the Rio Verde ou Verdao also flows. The reservoir of the dam is 12,700 million m³, of which 5,540 million m³ can be used. Nearby are the cities of São Simão and Paranaiguara .

The barrier structure is a combination of an earth and stone embankment dam and a gravity dam . It was featured on an Italian postage stamp a few years ago.

The hydropower plant started operating in 1978. Six turbines and generators with a total of 1710 megawatts of power are installed.
