Parsons Green is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on a viaduct above Parsons Green Lane. In 2014, 6.80 million passengers used this station served by the District Line . There is a parking facility to the southeast.

history

The opening of the stop took place on March 1, 1880 by the Metropolitan District Railway , the predecessor company of the District Line, in connection with the commissioning of the line between West Brompton and Putney Bridge . Electrical operation began on July 23, 1905.

On September 15, 2017, at 8:20 a.m. local time, a terrorist attack occurred in a District Line subway car when the train stopped at the platform. At least 22 people were injured, with most of the victims being burned, but none of them in mortal danger. The attack during the commuting period did not go as planned because the allegedly self-made explosive device apparently did not explode , but instead fizzled out . A court found an Iraqi guilty of attempted murder for the attack in March 2018 . Since the man had apparently lied about his age and was at least 21 years old, he was punished as an adult and eventually sentenced to 34 years in prison.
