from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Party for Environment, People and Work (PUMA) is a political party in Styria that ran for the state elections in Styria in 2010 . The party chairman and founder of the party is the political scientist Stefan Bernhart.

PUMA was founded by Bernhart in spring 2010. The core areas of the party are the environment, people and work mentioned in the party name. According to the understanding of PUMA, these three core areas include all important content and represent a value attitude of the party, whereby these values must not be subordinated to any party political or economic goals, but should be achieved through politics and business. In the course of the state elections in Styria in 2010, Bernhart advocated savings in the state administration. For example, he called for party subsidies to be cut, the state parliament to be downsized, and a smaller and cheaper vehicle fleet for state politicians and senior state officials. Bernhart also pleaded for savings and the use of synergy effects at the level of the district authorities as well as small and micro communities. According to party founder Bernhart, the money saved should primarily be used to reduce the state's debts and invest in the expansion of childcare facilities, sports and further education funding and social projects.
