Parthian noble families

The Parthian noble families or the Seven Parthian Clans or simply called the Seven Houses , were seven feudal aristocracies of Parthian origin who were allied with the Sassanid court.

Of the seven houses, only two - the house of the Suras and the house of the Karen - can be traced back to the Parthian Empire based on documented sources . Bringing the remaining five back to the Parthian era "in all likelihood does not match reality." It cannot be ruled out that some of the houses linked their geneaology to the Parthian kings or the Parthians in order to highlight the ages of their families.

During the Sassanid period, the seven feudal houses played a significant role in the Sassanid court. Bahram Tschobin , a military commander under Hormizd IV. (579-590), was from the house of the Mihran .
