Parti écologiste ( German  environmental protection party ) is a party in France that was founded in 2015 as a split from the green party Europe Écologie-Les Verts (EELV). Her original name was Écologistes! ( German  environmentalist! ). The party leader is François de Rugy . It can be assigned to the center-left spectrum. It is represented in the National Assembly by three members of the LREM parliamentary group .

background

After François Hollande's victory in the 2012 presidential election , EELV initially had two ministers in the government. However, when Manuel Valls became Prime Minister in 2014, the party decided not to join his cabinet . This decision was very controversial among leading members of the party. François de Rugy, Vice-President of the Green Group in the French National Assembly, and Jean-Vincent Placé , President of the Green Group in the Senate , left EELV in August 2015 because they disagreed with the party's left-wing orientation and a return to government advocated. On September 2nd, 2015 they founded the new Écologistes! .

Union des démocrates et des écologistes

Together with the Front démocrate party founded by Jean-Luc Bennahmias in 2014 , the Parti écologiste forms the alliance Union des démocrates et des écologistes (UDE).
