The PNP is both nationalist and social revolutionary. It saw itself as a constructive opposition to the government of the Social Democrat Alan García . She initially described herself as an opponent of the traditional party system, but then ran for elections.

history

The party has its origins partly in Etnocacerism . As the initiator and part of the Gana Perú ("Peru wins") party alliance , the PNP won the 2011 presidential elections and appointed the president until 2016. After the elections on April 10, 2011 , the PNP represented one of the largest parliamentary groups in the Peruvian Congress . But already in April 2012, strong tensions within the alliance became apparent. In July 2014, the “Gana Perú” alliance finally broke up. The PNP did not run for the 2016 election of the Peruvian Congress.

The party was also temporarily represented in the Andean parliament with two members: Alberto Adrianzén and Hilaria Supa Huamán .
