Russian party of life

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Russian Party of Life ( Russian Российская партия жизни ) was an officially left-wing democratic party in Russia . However, observers of Russian politics saw it as an artificial competition created by Vladimir Putin's environment for left-wing parties critical of the government and a counterpart to the officially conservative Putin party, United Russia . The chairman Sergei Mironov also comes from Putin's circle. In the 2003 Duma elections , the Party of Life achieved 1.9%.

On October 28, 2006, the party united with the government-affiliated and officially left-wing national groups Rodina and the Russian Pensioners' Party to form the Just Russia: Homeland, Pensioners, Life (Russian Справедливая Россия: родина, пенсионеры, жизнь ) a large one on the left wing to create a party related to the government. This is seen as an attempt by the government to strengthen left-wing competition with the communist party.
