The Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice ( Russian Российская партия пенсионеров за социальную справедливость Rossijskaja Partija Pensionerow za sotsial 'nuyu spravedlivost', which was founded in Russia from 1997 to 2006) is a political party that was founded in Russia from 1997 to 2006 .

Content profile

The party saw itself as representing the interests of Russian pensioners. In terms of content, it is attributed to the Putin-related environment of the ruling party United Russia . According to the party, it last had around 600,000 members and was represented in around 60 regional parliaments. In the Russian State Duma from 2003 to 2006 the party had only one deputy, a direct mandate , because it failed to make the jump over the 5% hurdle.

History of the party

The party was founded in 1997 as a party for pensioners . On May 29, the party was registered with the Russian Ministry of Justice . In the 1999 Russian parliamentary elections , the party received 1.95% of the vote. On December 1, 2001, the Russian Pensioners' Party was founded on the basis of the party and registered with the Ministry of Justice on May 15.

In the 2003 Russian parliamentary elections , the party won 3.1% of the vote in an election block with the Social Justice Party , but no seat. In 2005, the party campaigned against social reforms by the Russian government, which meant financial cuts for many pensioners. Since the election of the current chairman Igor Sotov in December 2005, the party has once again followed a loyal course towards Vladimir Putin . The party recorded its greatest political successes between 2003 and 2005 in regional elections, in which it made it into eight out of eight regional parliaments with up to 13.3% of the vote.

On October 28, 2006, the party united with the similarly pro-government groups Rodina and the Russian Party of Life to form the party Just Russia: Heimat, Pensioner, Leben (Russian Справедливая Россия: родина, пенсионеры, жизнь ) to create a large new, left wing to create a party close to the government. This is seen as an attempt by the government to strengthen left-wing competition with the communist party.
