Pashupati Chatterjee

Pashupati Chatterjee (born August 21, 1906 in Chandannagar , French India , today West Bengal , † unknown, possibly 1991) was a Bengali film director and journalist.

After graduating from Calcutta University , he worked as a photojournalist. He worked for the art magazine "Nachghar" and came to film through its publisher Premankur Atorthy . In 1934 he assisted Debaki Bose at Inquilab . From the following year Chatterjee worked for the film company New Theaters , which had dedicated itself to the filming of literary models. For Amar Mullicks Bardidi (1939) after Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay he wrote the lyrics, for Mullicks Abhinetri (1940) the dialogues. In 1942 Pashupati Chatterjee made his directorial debut with a film adaptation of Parinita . He has been producing independently since his film Swami (1949).

Chatterjee was editor of magazines, including the literary magazine "Natun Lekha", and published extensive articles on film history in, among others, "Chitravash", the magazine of the Calcutta Film Society .
