Washer
Shim washers are cylindrical ring- shaped standard parts according to DIN 988 .
Various inside and outside diameter combinations and thicknesses are available. Shim washers are used to adjust or fill gaps between round parts, which can be more or less large due to the permitted tolerances of the individual part dimensions. After measuring z. B. by means of gauge blocks , the gap is filled with an individually assembled shim thickness combination.
Alternatively, especially in the case of larger gap or diameter dimensions that are not covered by shims in accordance with DIN 988, shim washers or rings ( spacers ) are manufactured individually . The dimensions are adapted to the required dimensions by sawing , turning and grinding . This type of production is complex and costly.
