Standard part

A standard part is a component of technology , construction , electrics or mechanical engineering that is specified and described in detail in a standard .

They are determined by standards committees so that they can be used generally and are interchangeable. In addition, there are company standards of large companies, some of which have found their way into general use. These parts are often called standards .

Standard parts are usually not manufactured in-house, but purchased from specialist manufacturers. Standard and purchased parts are usually managed in catalogs or directories, and more recently in digital parts libraries or parts management systems.
