Pat Cooksey

Pat Cooksey (* 1945 in Limerick , Ireland ) is an Irish musician. Cooksey was born the son of a miner. He currently lives in Nuremberg , previously he lived in Altdorf near Nuremberg for two years .

The encounters with the later Dubliners members Luke Kelly and Seán Cannon were formative for his musical style . The singer-songwriter became known for his songs, which he wrote for the Dubliners and the Fureys , among others . His best-known songs include The Sick Note (1969) and The Reason I Left Mullingar (1980). Today his songs are played by many greats in Irish folk music, including the Clancy Brothers and the Corries .
