Paterson ( Russian Па́тэрсон ) was a supermarket chain in Russia from 1997 to 2010 .

The trading company Paterson was founded in 1997 by the brothers Alexei and Konstantin Mauerhaus as a limited company Omega-97 . The first market opened in 1998 in the Moscow suburb of Schulebino. In 2002, Paterson started operations outside the Moscow region with the opening of the first stores in Saint Petersburg and Tver . At the end of 2006, the chain already had 92 branches in 13 regions of Russia and - since 2005 - in the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

At the end of 2009, Paterson was taken over 100 percent by the retail group X5 Retail Group (which includes the chains Pjatjorotschka and Perekrjostok ). The largest shareholder of X5 Retail Group is the Alfa Group of Mikhail Fridman .
