Pyaterochka ( Russian Пятёрочка , sometimes transcribed English Pyaterochka ) is a Russian chain of grocery stores "around the corner", by X5 Retail Group is managed.

The chain's first store opened in Saint Petersburg in 1999 . In 2001 the chain entered the Moscow market. In 2002, the company opened a supermarket in the Russian province for the first time in the city of Voronezh .

In 2002, the development of a franchising program began.

In 2005 Pyaterochka Holding NV carried out the IPO on the London Stock Exchange .

In 2006 the Pjatjorotschka and Perekrjostok retail chains merged and the X5 Retail Group was founded, although the retail chain kept its name.

In 2010, X5 Retail Group acquired the Kopeika stores chain in 2010 - over 660 stores and 7 distribution centers. After the rebranding, the acquired businesses will be operated under the name Pjatjorotschka.

In 2013 a renewal program for the store chain was started, several perishable products appeared in the assortment, the density of the goods displays in the counters was reduced, and in most stores the open shop windows appeared on the facades.

IT and innovations

In spring 2017, the Pyatyorochka retail chain began to automate personnel selection. The voice robot (with a woman's voice - Wera, with a man's voice - Jermil) recognizes the speech, looks for letters of application according to the specified parameters and calls potential applicants. The robot tells applicants about vacancies in the company and, after the applicant shows his interest, automatically switches him to the responsible employee in the HR department.

In February 2018, X5 launched the online service, which offers property owners the opportunity to calculate the average rent in the respective location in the areas of presence of the Pyatyorochka retail chain. In addition, a rental offer, a sales offer for rooms or buildings and a property offer for the construction of a supermarket can be submitted by the service if the rooms meet the criteria for opening a business.
