Patitiri ( Greek Πατητήρι ( n. Sg. ), Wine press') is a small port town in the south of the Sporades island of Alonnisos and is its capital today. This got its name because the grapes that were abundantly harvested on the island used to be pressed here. The must was transported to Volos by kaiki boats . A phylloxera infestation in the late 1960s destroyed the foundations of viticulture.
