Patriarch is a Belgian power and thrash metal band from Herenthout , which was founded in 1983 under the name Pariah .
history
The band was formed in February 1983 under the name Pariah. Together they recorded two demos. A song of the first demos appeared on the compilation Satan's Revenge of New Renaissance Records . Founding member Jan T'Seyen died in a car accident in March 1988. This misfortune and the fact that there were already two bands with the same name caused the band to be renamed Patriarch.
They recorded another demo, whereby the band reached a contract for two albums with the German label Shark Records . Her debut album Prophecy was released in December 1990. It was recorded in the Ra.sh Studio in Gelsenkirchen with producer Ulli Pösselt . In September 1991 Erik Rinkes joined the band as the new singer. The second album was recorded in the T&T studio in Gelsenkirchen and mixed by Ulli Pösselt in the Ra.sh studio. The album was released in February 1993 under the name World Within Worlds . In 1995 the EP Deity was released . Towards the end of 1998 the band recorded another demo in order to achieve a label deal. In 2008 another self- published album called Mankind- The Virus was released .
style
The band plays a mixture of Thrash and Power Metal, with frequent changes in tempo and rhythm being characteristic. The pieces are often very complex and are reminiscent of older works by Nevermore .
