Patricia McKenna

Patricia McKenna (born March 13, 1957 in Monaghan ) is an Irish politician and former member of the Green Party . Since 2010 she has been President of the Europeans United for Democracy , a political party at European level .

In 1994 the former teacher and Nuala Ahern were elected to the European Parliament as the first members of their party . There McKenna belonged to the group The Greens / European Free Alliance . After successful re-election in 1999, she lost her seat in the European Parliament in 2004. In 2007 McKenna ran for chairmanship of the Green Party, but could not prevail against John Gormley . She resigned from the Green Party in 2009. In the European elections that took place in the same year , she ran as an independent candidate, but was unable to win a mandate.

McKenna is married and lives in Glasnevin with her husband and three children .
